Group Thread Replies
A five-message conversation normally produces five Notion pages or five Drive folders, each one carrying a longer and longer copy of the quoted history. Thread grouping keeps the conversation in one place: the first message creates the page or folder as usual, and every reply joins it.
Thread grouping is available for Notion and Google Drive destinations. Google Sheets, Airtable, Linear and Trello keep one row, record, issue or card per email.
Turn It On
Each destination has its own switch, so you can group client conversations and still keep one page per newsletter.
In the dashboard, open the destination and check Group thread replies. In the Gmail add-on, open the destination's edit card and set Group thread replies to on.
New Notion destinations start with grouping on. Google Drive destinations, and any destination that existed before the feature shipped, start with it off until you enable it.
What You Get in Notion
The first message of a thread creates a page the same way it always has. Each reply is appended to the bottom of that page under a small heading with the sender and the date, followed by the new text and any attachments. The quoted history that email clients tack onto replies is removed, so the page reads like a conversation instead of a stack of repeats.
Page properties are set once, from the first message. If the destination has an AI body prompt, it runs on each reply as well, but property extraction only runs on the first message.
What You Get in Google Drive
The first message creates a subfolder named by your folder name pattern. Every message in the thread is then saved inside that folder as its own PDF and HTML, plus its attachments, named by date, time and sender so the folder sorts in conversation order:

Nothing is trimmed from Drive messages. Each PDF is the complete email, quoted history included, which is what you want when the folder is an archive or evidence.
What Counts as the Same Thread
Email clients mark replies with hidden headers that point back to the message being answered. Quicktion uses those headers, not the subject line, so two unrelated emails with the same subject are never merged.
That has one practical consequence. Replies reach Quicktion with their headers intact when the destination address is on the conversation, either because a forwarding rule sends them along or because you CC the address, and when you save them from the Gmail add-on. Forwarding a reply by hand with the Forward button creates a brand-new email without those headers, so it gets its own page or folder.
Threads are tracked per destination. The same conversation saved to two destinations is grouped separately in each.
Good to Know
- No duplicates. Saving the same message twice, for example by clicking save in the add-on again, is skipped rather than appended a second time.
- Deleted page or folder. If you delete or trash the page or folder a thread lives in, the next reply starts a fresh one.
- Each message counts. A reply added to an existing page or folder still counts as one email toward your monthly limit.
- Turning it off. Switch it off and new messages go back to one page or folder each. Pages and folders already grouped stay as they are.
