Linear Connection Issues

If you're having trouble connecting your Linear workspace to Quicktion or saving emails to Linear, this guide covers the most common issues and how to fix them.

Token Expired

Symptoms

  • Emails that were saving successfully suddenly stop working.
  • You see "Unauthorized" or "Token expired" errors in the activity log.
  • Your destinations show a "Linear disconnected" error message.

Why this happens

Linear access tokens expire every 24 hours. Quicktion automatically refreshes them in the background, so you normally don't need to do anything. However, if the automatic refresh fails (for example, if your workspace access was revoked), the token can't be renewed.

Solutions

  1. Reconnect your Linear workspace. Go to the Quicktion dashboard, navigate to Settings, delete the Linear integration, and click Connect Linear to authorize again.
  2. Check Linear's authorized applications. In Linear, go to Settings > Security > Authorized applications and make sure Quicktion is listed. If it was removed, reconnecting from Quicktion will fix this.

Workspace Access Revoked

Symptoms

  • All destinations linked to your Linear workspace stop working at the same time.
  • You see authorization errors in the activity log.

Why this happens

If a Linear workspace admin revokes Quicktion's access, or if your account is removed from the workspace, the refresh token becomes invalid. When this happens, Quicktion pauses all destinations associated with that workspace to prevent repeated errors.

Solutions

  1. Check your workspace membership. Make sure you're still a member of the Linear workspace with permission to create issues.
  2. Ask your workspace admin. If the admin revoked Quicktion's access, ask them to re-approve it, or reconnect from the Quicktion dashboard.
  3. Reconnect from Settings. Go to the Quicktion dashboard, delete the Linear integration, and click Connect Linear to authorize again. Your paused destinations will resume once the connection is restored.

Destination Paused

Symptoms

  • Your destination shows a "Paused" status.
  • New emails aren't being saved to Linear.

Why this happens

Quicktion automatically pauses destinations when it detects a connection issue, such as a failed token refresh or workspace access being revoked. This prevents repeated failed attempts and error noise in your activity log.

Solutions

  1. Fix the underlying connection. In most cases, reconnecting your Linear workspace from the Settings page will resolve the issue.
  2. Check the activity log. Look at recent errors for the destination to understand what went wrong. The error message will indicate whether it's a token issue, a permission issue, or something else.
  3. Re-enable the destination. After reconnecting, your paused destinations should resume automatically. If they don't, open the destination settings and re-enable it.

"Linear Disconnected" Error Message

Symptoms

  • You see "Linear disconnected" on your destination or integration card.
  • Clicking on the integration shows it's no longer active.

Solutions

  1. Reconnect your workspace. Go to the Quicktion dashboard, navigate to Settings, and click Connect Linear to authorize again.
  2. Verify the workspace is still accessible. Log into linear.app and confirm you can access the workspace and create issues. If you can't, the issue is on the Linear side.
